1. Include some websites'
URLs (addresses) in your brief so that I can have
an idea of the kind of design you would like to
go for.
2. Compile a list of keywords and write a short description of your website. The keywords will be used by search engines to classify
your website and the description will appear next
to your website's URL on the search engine results'
page. To be more effective, the keywords
should be grouped in pairs separated by commas (i.e.
yoga london, sivananda yoga, etc...).
If you are really serious about getting your
site listed in a good position on Google, you might want
to read "The Small Business Owner's Handbook to Search Engine Optimization" an easy step-by-step guide to Search Engine Optimization. SEO is more related to Marketing Research than to web design so you will not need to be a website design expert to understand this book...
3. Collect and organise your website's content (text and images).
If you are unsure about the number of pages you
require have a look at your potential competitors
websites to see how they are organised.
In your favourite text editor (i.e. Microsoft Word)
write down the titles of each page (i.e. Home /
Links / Contact Us / etc... ).
4. Once you've done that, start writing the text that
will figure on each page. If you have any image
that you would like to use for a particular page,
write down the name of that image at the end of
the paragraph it is related to. i.e. [image1.gif].
For words or images that you want to be linked
to a website or to another page of your website,
write the URL next to it.
i.e. ... visit satyaloka
unlimited [www.satyaloka.co.uk] for more info.
5. Don't forget to run a spell check and to proofread the text before sending it to me. If you have included some URLs in your text, check out if they are working by copying them and pasting them in the "Address box" of your web browser.
